Hope Amidst Crisis: Urgent Prayers Needed for Ukraine
Though more than two years have passed since the war in Ukraine began, the resilience and hope of Ukrainian people have continued to endure through the ongoing crisis. Many of the FEBC staff in Ukraine have shared their testimonies, with some being called into service to serve as chaplains in the war, and others taking on new responsibilities to continue the FEBC ministry. Their stories of faith and courage in the face of suffering remind us that even in the darkest moments, the hope found in Jesus Christ shines in the brightest.
In early September, we received word that the Russian forces broke through Ukrainian defences in Eastern Ukraine, devastating the suburb of Hirnyk with heavy shelling. Amid the destruction, the FEBC radio tower in Hirnyk was destroyed. This particular radio tower in Hirnyk had been broadcasting into the city of Donetsk, which has been under Russian occupation since 2014.
Eduard, the Director of FEBC Ukraine, has had the opportunity to connect with a pastor of an underground church in Donetsk. The pastor shared how FEBC’s programming and ministry provided their people with hope and inspiration through the challenging times. Despite the dangers involved, listeners living under occupation continue to send powerful testimonies of how the FEBC broadcasts strengthen their faith and bring them hope.

Thousands are responding to the life-changing message of the Gospel, and the impact is profound.
With over 70 years of history in Ukraine, FEBC has established ten radio stations across the country, but the ongoing conflict has taken a toll. In the first year of fighting alone, two stations were lost, and the station in Hirnyk became the third station to be destroyed. FEBC is now facing the threat of losing a fourth station in the city of Pokrovsk as the war is now almost at their doorstep. As the war closes in, an evacuation of the city has been announced. However, even in the face of such uncertainty, FEBC Ukraine has remained steadfast in their mission as they continue to share the hope and trust of the Gospel through their broadcasts.
Please continue to pray for our Ukrainian broadcasters who are sharing the hope that is only found in Jesus Christ. Thousands are responding to the life-changing message of the Gospel, and the impact is profound. However, our colleagues in Ukraine share that the work is exhausting, daily stability is uncertain, and the need for ongoing support is urgent. We ask for your continued prayer for the safety of our Ukrainian colleagues, and the preservation of their ministry, trusting that God will continue to make a way for His message to reach those in need of His hope and peace.
