Why Radio Still Matters in the Digital Age

Why Radio Still Matters in the Digital Age

In today’s high-tech world, you might wonder why FEBC continues to broadcast over traditional radio. While digital platforms are expanding, radio remains one of the most powerful and strategic tools for proclaiming the gospel—especially to those beyond the reach of modern technology due to financial or political restrictions.

In many restricted or remote areas, radio remains the most accessible and reliable way to hear the Gospel—crossing borders and barriers that digital media often cannot. For many, it’s not just a broadcast, but a lifeline of hope.

Here's why Radio Still Matters in the Digital Age:

  • Radio reaches the unreachable.
In remote and isolated regions, where internet access is scarce or nonexistent, radio is often the only means of communication. A single radio can serve an entire village, bringing the message of Christ where no other voice can go.

  • It breaks through literacy barriers.
An estimated 800 million people around the world cannot read—but they can still hear. Radio allows the gospel to be spoken in their heart language, making the truth of God’s Word accessible to all, regardless of literacy.

  • It’s a safe, private way to explore faith.
In countries where Christianity is restricted or forbidden, radio becomes a lifeline. A Muslim, Buddhist, or seeker curious about Jesus may never meet a missionary—but they can listen quietly, safely, and freely in the privacy of their home.

  • God’s Word goes where missionaries cannot.
Radio waves cross borders, walls, and cultural boundaries. In places closed to traditional evangelism, radio carries the gospel into hearts and homes—no passport required.

" Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ."

Romans 10:17

Even in the digital age, the radio remains a vital instrument in God’s mission. At FEBC, we’re committed to using every means possible to make His name known—until all have heard.

PRAYER ITEMS

Give thanks to the Lord for placing a bold, Spirit-led vision in the hearts of Robert Bowman, John Broger, and William Roberts—to reach the lost in Asia with the Gospel of Jesus Christ through radio. Pray that this same boldness would ignite hearts today.

Praise God for opening the doors in the Philippines when the way was closed in China. Thank Him for His perfect timing and provision, which allowed the Gospel to continue going forth—reaching those in spiritual darkness with the light of Christ.

Ask the Lord to anoint every broadcast going into China and beyond. Pray for the Holy Spirit to prepare hearts, break down barriers, and draw many to repentance and salvation through the name of Jesus Christ.
